Advanced Power Strips are intended for home entertainment centers. When the TV plugged into the “control” outlet is on, the accessory devices plugged into the “switched” outlets turn on too. Accessory devices are usually items like speakers, gaming consoles, printer, etc. All these devices will continue to receive power while the TV is on. When your TV turns off, so do all the accessory devices, reducing wasted energy.
Note that the blue switched outlets do not turn on unless the TV or computer in the control outlet is also turned on.
